They're Here!!!
November 1, 2004; 2:43am

Jessie started delivering her puppies at 9:38 pm Halloween Night. So far, we have 3 sable males and a white female have come a Trick or Treating. Her radiograph yesterday showed 9 (possibly 10) puppies. Her last litter had 9 puppies and the radiograph only showed 6 so this litter could be quite a bit bigger than 9! We will start taking deposits now that we have an idea of what we will get from this litter as far as color and sex. These puppies are Double New Blood and are active and "driven" pups, great for working, SAR etc. They make great pets for active families as well. Just 4 are whelped so far, but I will post a final count this morning sometime!!

We are up to 9 puppies now. Its 4:30 am and I dont think she is done yet.
There are 4 females (1 white, 1 light sable, 2 dark dual or sable) and 5 males (2 dual, 2 dark sable, 2 light sable). They are still not dry, so I will get a better idea of color once they are dried off.

The final count is 9....4 females and 5 males. It looks like 3 light sables (2M and 1F) 1 white (F) and the remaining 5 are dark sables and duals. 2 look just like Rosie (red collar) from our last litter. The light sables are marked just like Siri was when he was 8 weeks....with that black stripe down the back. I suspect they will be lighter in color than he though. We will be going to the vet this afternoon just to check to make sure there are no retained puppies. I am not good at palpating...I keep thinking I am feeling something there. The x-ray looked like 9-10 puppies, so I just want to make sure she delivered them all!

Updated puppy count: 11 now! Jessie just had 2 more....a male and female. All 11 are very vocal puppies!!! LOL

November 4, 2004

The puppies are 4 days old today!! All 11 are doing well. Our heaviest baby is 1.53# (a tank!!) and the littlest is 1.14#. The rest are in between. We had one heck of a storm here Halloween night, so all the puppies have "weather" names. They are: Blizzard, Snow, Twister, Thunder, Hurricane, Rayne, Storm, Windy, Blue-Skye, Breeze, and Zephyr.
